This full day workshop will introduce the fundamentals of design thinking and the Lean Canvas and how these approaches can help develop innovative solutions for the complex challenges we face as businesspeople, creatives and entrepreneurs.
In the first part of the day you will be introduced to user centred design principles at the research, ideation and idea synthesis stage of the the design thinking process. We'll cover the theory then workshop through the practical aspects of each stage of the core design process.
We will introduce a series of rapid research tools to ensure the products or services we create are fit for purpose. You’ll learn and apply methods for performing user research in the field (contextual inquiry / observation / interviews), synthesising research (affinity mapping) and building personas to communicate users needs to others involved in the design process.
In the second part of the day we will look at developing a sustainable business model using The Lean Canvas. Lean Canvas promises an actionable and entrepreneur-focused business plan. It focuses on problems, solutions, key metrics and competitive advantages.
We'll begin with an introduction to how this incredibly popular system works, we'll discuss the various methods of use and how each element of the Lean Canvas connects into the other. You'll learn how to break down and analyse existing business models and innovate on your own.
