How do you improve fire safety in the city? Help those in need connect to critical services? Improve campus life? Ensure the health of our urban forest?
We do it with data. We are Data Science for Social Good ATL, and we'd like to show you what we've been up to this summer.
Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) Atlanta is a ten-week summer internship program for talented students to expand and apply their knowledge of data science. Throughout the summer, students work with mentors and local organizations on data science projects which provide innovations and insights for the advancement of the local community.
Project partners this year include: City of Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department, Trees Atlanta, City of Atlanta Tree Conservation Commission, United Way 211, and Georgia Tech. More detailed descriptions of the 2015 projects can be found here: http://dssg-atl.io/projects
July 9th, DSSG ATL teams will demonstrate their projects at a finale event. Part of each presentation will include recommendations on city improvements affecting the lives of those in the surrounding communities. The event will celebrate the students’ hard work and offer opportunities to connect to the larger network of social innovators in the city.
Join us for the finale event – it’s guaranteed to be cooler than anything else you’re doing on a Thursday night …
