About This Workshop

This single day bootcamp will run through the analytical workflow -- from collecting, cleaning, analyzing and presenting insights from small and big data sets. We will introduce important tools used in this process such as Excel, SQL, and Tableau.

Goals:

  • Introduce concepts and practice using and managing data
  • Transform data for predictive analytics and business intelligence decision-making
  • Develop compelling visualizations that articulate the value of data assets

Preparation

Who is this for? Professionals seeking advice on where to turn for new market research or leverage open data assets. Participants will be tasked with installing softwares on a laptop computer in advance of workshop instruction.

About the Instructor

Senior Analyst,
Atlassian

Ali is a lead data analytics instructor at General Assembly. By day, she works in marketing analytics for Atlassian, managing reporting and analysis for the Customer Evangelism team. By nights (and weekends), she leads analytics-based courses and workshops at GA and has taught in both San Francisco and Washington, DC. Prior to Atlassian, she managed analytics for the Owner Intelligence group at Hilton, delivering impactful analysis to drive data-based decisions within the Hilton customer organization.

Ali earned her Masters in Systems Engineering from George Washington University and is passionate about combining systems thinking with data analysis, helping organizations to transform their decision-making processes to be data-driven and improve experiences and products for the end-consumer through data. In her free time, Ali can be found enjoying Northern California's outdoors, whether on a boat on the Bay, hiking Tomales Point, or exploring Napa wineries.
