About This Workshop

“I’ll get to content eventually" or "My intern will handle it" is not a content strategy. Content is one of the most important marketing tools for crafting your brand’s personality, establishing your credibility, and expanding and engaging your audience - especially in highly evocative design-oriented industries. Content should not be an afterthought.

This course will introduce students to the basics of content marketing - from the keys to a great blog post, to creating a thoughtful content strategy that works for you, to tactics for establishing constructive content partnerships, and crafting relevant native advertising.

The key to great content marketing is, you guessed it, great content. Great stories resonate. That’s why students will learn the essentials of how to write with SEO in mind, while always writing towards a narrative and for their audience.

Prereqs & Preparation

A general awareness of blogging platforms like Wordpress or Squarespace is helpful. Please bring a laptop with you to the class.

About the Instructor

Marni Epstein-Mervis is architecture journalist and Founder and Principal of STRUKTR Studios, a content + communications for architecture, design, and real estate. Marni has 10 years of experience in new media and content. She’s held positions with MySpace and Sony Pictures Entertainment, and before founding STRUKTR, she ran content and social media for Silicon Beach-based tech startup, OpenHouse.

Marni’s work has appeared in Curbed, Archdaily, Yahoo, Huffpost, The Eastsider LA, HomeAdvisor, and more. She and STRUKTR have been featured on Apartment Therapy, Dwell, and Bunch Magazine.

She holds a B.S. in Business from USC and is studying a Masters in Historic Preservation from Goucher College.
