About this workshop

Generative user research methods typically occur in the early stages of development. They help you find, define and refine your opportunity and problem space, generate ideas, and gain a deeper, more strategic understanding of the the people impacted, in order to increase your odds of success.

Evaluative research gathers design feedback once you have something for people to respond (e.g. a concept sketch, story board, prototype, and existing product or service, or other stimuli).

In the morning, we’ll get hands-on with generative methods (scenarios, storyboards, and interviews and discuss ethnographic field studies, diary studies and more). In the afternoon, we'll get hands on with evaluative approaches (usability testing, card sorting, performance/click testing and concept/preference testing).

Learn which methods are best to inform specific types of research questions and phases.
