About This Workshop

Squarespace is made for entrepreneurs, businesses, artists, bloggers, freelancers and anyone else looking to build and create beautiful websites. Learning a website builder and developing an online presence can be overwhelming, but Squarespace helps you by simplifying the process.

Looking to create a fresh, elegant website on a modern platform? This class will teach students the basics of Squarespace including selecting templates, editing designs, managing content, publishing blog posts and implementing advanced features like e-commerce to make that happen. We will be using design blocks already provided by the traditional Squarespace site so no coding skills are required! By the end of the class, you will have a working version of your website, ready for final tweaks and launch.

**This will be a basic introduction - we will not be using Javascript injections or the CSS editor.

Takeaways

-Develop a functional understanding of Squarespace as it compares to other CMS options (i.e. Wordpress)

-Understand the difference between domain hosting and web hosting

-Start a new beautifully designed website

-Create and update basic web pages with different layouts

-Understand fundamentals of Squarespace's SEO settings and how to optimize your site

-Learn about additional tools to help grow your business

Prereqs & Preparation

Students must bring a laptop to class. Preparing written/visual content (i.e. text or photos) in advance for your website is recommended but not required. Must have basic computer proficiency. Programming skills are not required!
