About this event

Ashoka Changemakers and General Assembly are offering a one day professional development experience which will bring together corporate employees, social entrepreneurs and others from the non-profit and public sector to develop skills and strategies to advance social business innovation within large, established institutions. Over the past year Ashoka has facilitated three professional development courses on the topic, including employees from Barclays, Accenture, MetLife, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Vodafone, United Nations, USAID, Ministries of Health, Johns Hopkins, MIT and grassroots innovators from over 30 different countries. The seminar workshop will share the key skills and strategies that have emerged from these courses.

As the world rapidly changes, new employer and employee skills such as teamwork, empathy and leadership are fundamental to an institution’s ability to innovate and grow into the future. Ignoring the need for these new skills leads to loss of opportunity and competitiveness, along with increased redundancy and inefficiency. Social intrapreneurship is a methodology for sparking, cultivating, advancing and scaling social innovation within institutions by capitalizing on trends such as technology advancement and globalization, co-creation, deploying agile and start-up strategies.

Takeaways

Participants attending the workshop will walk away with concrete strategies and plans for advancing social innovation within their institution. A networking lunch and happy hour will help foster critical connections across sectors and industries.
