About this event

Have you thanked a teacher today?

Think back to your favorite teacher. What words would you use to describe them? Has their teaching influenced you in one aspect or another?

The impact of educators can be seen for decades - a well-trained teacher can boost a class’s lifetime income by $250,000 (edutopia.org). The long-term benefits of teachers go beyond teaching student’s specific academic skills. Increasing student self-esteem, motivation, and responsibility become a significant part of their job and their passion. Teachers become one of the most important people in a student’s life: 54% of students say a teacher has helped them during a difficult time (weareteachers.com). Both in and outside of the classroom, educators affect thousands and thousands of students during their career.

In 1953, activist and former First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, convinced Congress to honor educators and thus began the beginning of “National Teacher Day”. Occurring on the first full day in May, this celebration brings to the forefront the contributions, patience, and dedication of teachers across the country. Join us in shouting from the (virtual) rooftops our appreciation for teachers across the country. To the dedicated educators: we are so thankful for your patience, determination, and hearts!
