About this event

*** "...Code is a superpower every young woman should be able to access" --- Karlie Kloss ***

Join General Assembly and Plan International to celebrate Girls in ICT with an interactive learning festival, You Can't Be What You Can't ICT!

In this short workshop for beginners, explore the programming languages that power the web and write your first line of code.

You'll be introduced to the building blocks of the web — HTML and CSS — and learn how you can apply these programming languages to develop your own simple sites like a profile page.

By writing your own lines of code, you’ll:

  • Get a closer look at how many different fields benefit from coding knowledge.
  • Learn how HTML and CSS function together to form the backbone of the web.
  • Cover key coding terms and principles.
  • Develop a working web page from scratch.

Prereqs & Preparation

  • You'll need a laptop or computer with a strong internet connection (tablets and mobile phones are not suitable for the practical part of this workshop)

  • This workshop will take place via Zoom. You'll be sent a link to join prior to the session.
